Made entirely from film, television, photographic, and amateur video archives spanning the last seven decades, with no hierarchical preconceptions about the material revisited, this feature film pays a playful tribute to Beirut. The filmmaker uses impressive montage techniques to take us on a personal, non-linear journey through the many layers of Lebanon's audiovisual production that explores and reveals a suitably fragmented intimate and collective memory marked by joys, hopes, violence, and grief. This subjective historical, sociopolitical, and human journey is an ode to creativity and culture in its many forms. It explores the complex, subtle, and surprising relationships between the different periods of a resilient country that deserves to be celebrated.(HSB)
