I lost sight of the Landscape
With her personal and intimate approach, Sophie Bédard Marcotte this time turns her camera on her neighbour. He is a professional playwright and amateur mechanic in the process of creating his next theatrical work loosely based on the Myth of Sisyphus. In the course of his reflections, rehearsals with actors and actresses, writing and rewriting of the play, or grant applications, a surprising participatory observation unfolds, interwoven with a creative dialogue on artistic exploration and life. This densely layered minimalist work adopts a chaptered structure and embraces the necessary absurdity of perpetual renewal in a personal quest that is constantly being redefined. Cerebral, touching, and funny, this (auto)biographical film shot over several years evokes the beauty of the unexpected and highlights the unforeseen riches of an improvised and thoughtful journey.
