Sheltered from the whispers in their high school hallways, students gather in class to discuss the work of Annie Ernaux, a respected author renowned for her “auto-socio-biographical” writings, which earned her the 2022 Nobel Prize in Literature. This film is divided into segments that introduce us to these ordinary high school students, allowing us to discover Ernaux's writing and what makes it resonate with today's youth. Through this group discussion, a kind portrait of this great writer emerges, not through chronology, but through the lasting echoes of her influence, where the intimacy of these closely filmed moments intersects with the collective and contemporary history of her readers.
