In the sublime mountain pastures of North Macedonia, five young brothers, aged five to twenty, and their pack of dogs tend and care for the sheep and cows on the family farm. The proximity of the camera is intimate and precise, capturing their daily life and revealing the dynamics between humans and animals penned in by the sprawling horizon. The sensitive
and patient observation of their tasks, leisure time, and conversations about their lives and
futures reveals each brother’s personality, as well as the relationships of solidarity and power between them. It also exposes the disparities between tradition and modernity and, for the older contingent, the growing attraction of a different life, far from the imposed isolation of their work on this breathtaking territory, untouched by time.
