The cycle of life unfolds in a ring-billed gull colony: they feed, they squawk, they coexist, they reproduce, and they protect their offspring. The spectacle of animal life here is captivating, enhanced by Serge-Olivier Rondeau's sensory observational cinema and remarkable sound work, offering a rare sense of immersion. But the gulls' routine is regularly disrupted by outside interference: some are captured and released with a cumbersome GPS tag on their tail, while a gigantic, poisoned feast baits them, until a predator is released to disperse them. Gulls have become accustomed to frequenting Canada's largest landfill site.(MB)
