Focus Taiwan: Beyond the Frame

Taste of Wild Tomato Kek-Huat Lau

Kaohsiung served as an important military base under Japanese colonial rule and experienced heavy casualties during Taiwan’s 228 Incident. This film subtly tends to the deep scars of the massacre’s witnesses, survivors, and their descendants as an act of resistance against oblivion. Memories survive through different eras of oppression and continue to live in people’s hearts, just like the wild tomatoes growing in this land. (TIDF)

This film is presented as part of the Focus Taiwan: Beyond the Frame.

Presented in collaboration with Taiwan international Documentary Festival , Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute (TFAI) , Taiwan Docs and with the support of Taipei Cultural Center in New York
