Metamorphic Studies
Rocks seem immutable, yet they transform. The work's evocative title underlines the metamorphosis caused by the heat and pressure that igneous and sedimentary rocks can undergo, resulting in metamorphic rocks. In this experimental short, change is also felt in the rich variety of cinematic expressions and atmospheres skilfully created through sound and visual explorations. A true poetic laboratory, the film grants access to a multitude of details, textures, and motifs resulting from an encounter between 16mm film, mineral matter, and the St. Lawrence River. Human presence is revealed on these shores by the apparitions of a dreamlike swimmer, a mirror of our subjectivity. (SCV)
