Tuktuit explores the territory of Nunavut, where Inuit, fauna, and flora coexist in a holistic way. Personified by caribou, lichen, and artist Lindsay McIntyre, images and words come together to reveal the interconnectedness of these different lifeforms. Switching between wide shots of the landscape and close-ups of lichen clusters and a caribou carcass, integrating the very material of the latter into the film development process and creating associations through collage, this short film encourages deep listening, beyond voice or sound. In all its textures, Tuktuit is an invitation to reflect on the spiritual and material dimensions that bind Inuit to their territory in a sensitive and tangible way. (MF)
