Anchored in the new wave of Cape Verdean cinema, The Last Harvest displays images of rare beauty, where colour and black and white alternate in the same way that dreams and memories sometimes do. In this poetic short film structured in chapters, the destinies of a mother, her son, and an uprooted man intersect, sketching an intergenerational portrait of a diaspora that has had to trade the lushness of the island for the cramped, oppressive conditions of the city. By focusing on these identities in search of belonging and infusing their daily lives with melancholic reveries, Nuno Boaventura Miranda has created a hybrid work in which nostalgia and exile become the very substance of a narrative, captivating and, above all, promising cinema.
