Short and Medium-Length Competition

Landscapes of Longing Alisha Tejpal, Mireya Martinez, Anoushka Mirchandani

Co-directed by Alisha Tejpal, Mireya Martinez, and Anoushka Mirchandani, this short film explores the relationship between Mirchandani, her mother, and her grandmother. With its evocative title, Landscapes of Longing presents a fragmented reflection on memories, identity, and belonging. The film freely explores several formats and cinematic techniques, ranging from intimate conversations to personal photographic archives, symbolic or playful stagings, and the use of multiple screens. In a common and unifying gesture, the three members of this family, who have experienced the impact of migration in different ways, weave together a memory and an intergenerational connection. A touching work, crafted with refinement and audacity. (HSB)
